    Mud volcanoes' hazards

    Authors: Ad.A. Aliyev, I.S. Guliyev, B.M. Panahi

The problem of geological hazard assessment covers the wide public attention. Particularly, the practical success in the forecast of a rescent landslide of March 7, 1999 in Baku was of great attention. So, the first steps to its practical application should be considered as completed. Believing in that through this book the other specialists can receive the necessary conception about the achievments in the assessment of geologic hazards connected with so unique and harmless view phenomenon like mud volcanism. The information given in this book is stated simply as possible.

Boron and rare alkalis in products of eruption of mud volcanoes of Azerbaijan

    Authors: N.I. Babayev

In book, on the base of modern field and laboratory researches are described conditions of accumulation boron and rare alkalis in products of eruption of mud volcanoes Shemakha-Gobustan area and Absheron peninsula. It is determined typomorphological geochemical association with boron mineralization rare alkalis-lithium, rubidium and cesium. Indicated lithogeochemical by structures and the maps have justified certain selectivity in distribution sought for elements in various plicate structures of region under researches.

Mud volcanoes and their significance in prognostics of the depths oil-and-gas content

    Authors: R.R. Rakhmanov

The present issue contains the substantiated notions on localization of the mud volcanoes in submerged zones of the geosynclinal, epigeosynclinal orogenic belts and areas of the repeated orogenesis. The states and mechanism of forming of mud volcanoes, their activity, eruption products, morphology are examined as well. The regularities of location (structural localization) of mud volcanoes are used as criteria while prognose of the depths oil-and-gas content.

On newest eruptions of mud volcanoes of the Greater Caucasus southeast

Authors: A.A. Yakubov, F.H. Dadashev, M.M. Zeinalov et al.

Since 1958 within Azerbaijan mud volcanic province there is observed an intensive activity of mud volcanoes. During the mentioned period there occurred 26 eruptions on 18 volcanoes. Of more interests are the eruptions on volcanoes Lokbatan, Keireki, Otmanbozdagh, Kushchu, Ajiveli, Melikchobanli, Kelani, Airantekan, Agzibir, Makarov bank, Duvanny island, Koturdagh and Bakhar. These eruptions give extra material and some time new material on their geological structure, type of activity and time-spatial manifestation.
